What is SEO?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo) via the “natural” or un-paid (also known as “organic”) search results.

Why SEO?

The websites with higher ranks will appear in the first page of the Search Engine Result Page (SERP) which will give the website more impressions and lead more visitors to the website.  SEO is a low budget way to increase your brand impression and presence in the online world.

How Search Engine Rank Pages

  • Search engines “crawl” through millions of websites and present the results that match the searched word(s)
  • Search Engines rank the pages by “quality score” and require that pages have the content the searchers are looking for and that the content include keywords.  Search Engines look at the follow 5 factors to trade a website:
  1. Tile Tag
  2. URL
  3. Content Freshness
  4. Amount of Pages
  5. Keywords
  • Another factor that Search Engines look at is “credibility” which is determined by the number of backlinks (inbound links) that the website gets from other authority sites.  The higher ranking the website that provides the backlink, the more prominent the search engine will rank it.
